Did Benjamin Netanyahu Really Die? Israel Responds After ‘Six Fingers’ Video Goes Viral”

Rumors about the death of Benjamin Netanyahu recently spread rapidly across social media after a controversial video clip went viral. The speculation began when viewers noticed what appeared to be an unusual visual detail in the footage—Netanyahu’s hand seemingly showing six fingers. The moment triggered widespread claims online that the video had been generated using artificial intelligence and that the Israeli Prime Minister might have been assassinated.

However, officials from the office of Benjamin Netanyahu quickly dismissed these claims, stating that the rumors circulating online are false and that the Prime Minister is alive. According to Israeli officials, the strange appearance in the video was simply the result of an optical illusion created by the movement of his hand during the recording.

How the ‘Six Fingers’ Video Sparked Conspiracy Theories.

The speculation began after a video released on March 12 showed Benjamin Netanyahu discussing the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran.
During the clip, viewers noticed a brief moment in which Netanyahu’s hand appeared to display five fingers plus a thumb.

Because AI-generated images and videos often struggle to accurately reproduce human hands, many social media users quickly concluded that the video must have been created using artificial intelligence.
This led to conspiracy theories suggesting that Netanyahu had been killed and replaced with an AI-generated video.
Within hours, screenshots and slowed-down clips spread across platforms, fueling claims that the Israeli government was hiding the Prime Minister’s death.

Israel Denies Assassination Claims

The Israeli government strongly rejected these rumors. Officials clarified that the visual anomaly was simply an optical illusion caused by the angle and movement of Netanyahu’s hand while speaking.

Experts in video analysis also noted that such visual distortions are common in moving footage, particularly when fingers overlap or move quickly. When viewed frame by frame, the hand appears normal and does not actually show an extra finger.
Israeli authorities emphasized that the Prime Minister remains active and that the viral claims are based on misinterpretations of the footage.

Iran’s Response to the Rumors

As the rumors gained attention online, questions were raised about whether Iran had targeted the Israeli Prime Minister. When asked about the speculation, Iranian officials did not confirm any assassination attempt.

Instead, an Iranian government response suggested that if Benjamin Netanyahu were alive, they would continue to pursue their confrontation with him. The statement did not indicate that Iran believed Netanyahu was dead, but it did highlight the ongoing hostility between the two countries.

Rising Misinformation During the Israel–Iran Tensions

The viral “six fingers” clip highlights how quickly misinformation can spread during periods of geopolitical tension. As the conflict between Israel and Iran continues to attract global attention, misleading interpretations of videos and images can easily fuel conspiracy theories.
In this case, what appeared to be evidence of an AI-generated video was ultimately explained as a simple visual illusion caused by motion in the footage.
